Many likely didn’t know Deshazor Everett’s name before Sunday, but they will now after the Washington Redskins defensive back delivered a cheap shot to Darren Sproles of the Philadelphia Eagles.
Sproles went back to field a punt and was defenseless. Everett apparently just didn’t care—and neither did officials:

Everett was allowed to stay in the game after the hit, which means the league might have some explaining to do.
Many in the Twitterverse didn’t take too kindly to the cheap shot:
That Deshazor Everett dude should be ejected, suspended, fine and thrown out of the league.

BOOM – A head shot by Redskins Deshazor Everett on the Eagles Darren Sproles should be an ejection. That echoed throughout the stadium.

The fact that Deshazor Everett is still playing in this game after that is disgusting.

Deshazor Everett is an absolute punk. Cheap shot on Celek and now on Sproles? Are you kidding me!? #PHIvsWAS

Everett, a second-year player, was getting his first major taste of action on the season. Inexperience doesn’t seem like an excuse that will fly for many, though, especially considering he’s been a mainstay on special teams.
The Eagles simply said Sproles went to the locker room for evaluation after suffering a head injury. If he’s lucky, there won’t be any long-term ramifications after the scary shot.
Expect the league to send a fine letter to Everett, though reasons for his staying on the field might not be as predictable.
