Green Bay Packers Aaron Rodgers has the right perspective when it comes to “must-win” football games.
Asked if Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans was a must win for the Packers, Rodgers answered by dismissing the idea altogether.
“I’ve never liked that term,” Rodgers said, via Jason Wilde of ESPN. “World War II was a must-win.”

In the name of transparency, let it be noted here that this website runs a weekly column breaking down “must-win games.” The post is used to highlight teams in big need of wins during a given week on the NFL schedule.
We happily concede that Rodgers has a great point.
The Packers could certainly use a win on Sunday against the Titans. Green Bay is now 4-4, with three losses in four games. Sunday will begin a three-game road trip that could decide the fate of the Packers’ 2016 season. But a loss to the Titans would not be the end of the world.
It is so easy to lose perspective as a fan. The NFL means a lot to many people. That’s especially true in Wisconsin, a state where the Packers are the biggest sports entity by a large margin. But at the end of the day, football is nothing more than a silly game played for our own entertainment.
Rodgers understands his professional commitment to play as well as he possibly can for an organization that pays him millions. But he also knows the sun will come up on Monday if the Packers fail to leave Tennessee with a win.
