Don’t tell Aaron Rodgers that the Green Bay Packers are done.
The MVP quarterback believes the Packers, who have lost four straight and five of the last six games, can win out to end the 2016 season.
“I feel like we can run the table, I really do,” Rodgers said on Wednesday, according to Rob Demovsky of ESPN. “The offense is starting to click a little bit more, we’ve just got to put together a game where we’re more consistent from the first snap to the last. We’ve been, I think, getting closer to that. We’ve really been clicking at times in the last few games.”
The Packers are currently 4-6 and looking up at both the Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions in the NFC North. Green Bay might need six straight wins to close the season to make the playoffs.
Any kind of run has to begin on Monday night, when the Packers play the 5-5 Eagles in Philadelphia.
“You just feel like it just takes one,” Rodgers said. “We get one under our belts, things might start rolling for us and we can run the table.”
The Packers have lost four straight games for the first time since 2008, or Rodgers first year as a starter.
His confidence won’t mean anything if the Packers can’t play better defense. While Rodgers has thrown 12 touchdowns and just three interceptions during the losing streak, Green Bay’s defense has given up 153 points—including 89 over the last two games.
The Packers have the talent to make a run, despite how poorly they’ve played over the last month. Six straight wins should get Green Bay back into the postseason, where anything can happen.
Crazier and far less likely things have happened in the NFL, but it all has to start on Monday Night Football in Philly.
