Adam Vinatieri sets NFL record for consecutive field goals

Indianapolis Colts v Carolina Panthers

Indianapolis Colts kicker and 21-year pro Adam Vinatieri made history Sunday against the Tennessee Titans, hitting his 43rd field goal in a row.

No typo there, folks—Vinatieri passed former Colts hero Mike Vanderjagt by making a 33-yard attempt:

The 43 is impressive, but look at it this way—Vinatieri hasn’t missed since Week 2 of the 2015 season. Want more fun with numbers? He also happens to be 43 years old.

All-22’s Philip B Watson put it best:

The history-making kick was his second conversion of the day to extend Indianapolis’ lead. Tennessee eventually caught up, though, so Vinatieri’s day was far from over.

Vinatieri is well on his way to what could be a final epic season. He’s already made 16 field goals on the year over the first six games after only making 25 last season. Given the pace, this looks like another year with 30 or more for one of the best to ever do it.
