Adrian Peterson will play Week 16 vs. Packers

Green Bay Packers v Minnesota Vikings

Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson has revealed he will return in Week 16 for an NFC North battle against the Green Bay Packers.

Peterson, who  hasn’t played since the second week of the season, has talked about returning for the playoffs. With the Vikings not assured a berth after losing two of three, Peterson seems to have accelerated his timetable for return.

John Shipley of the Pioneer Press captured Peterson’s recent interview detailing his return:

“I plan on practicing this week to really get my legs under me and get a good feel on where I’m at,” he told the Internet radio network. “So, this week is going to be big for me. My plan, and my vision, is to be back for the Green Bay game. That’s what I’m envisioning.

“Of course, the perfect scenario would be we win out and I’m able to rest up for three weeks, and be ready for the playoffs. That’s the perfect scenario. But I’ll be out there this week practicing, and I’ll go from there.”

Vikings fans obviously can’t wait until Peterson returns. Not only is he a historic figure for the franchise, Matt Asiata,  Jerick McKinnon and others have averaged a miserable per-carry average of around three yards this year while the passing attack has floundered.

The Vikings will need to move past the Indianapolis Colts before getting Peterson back for the Packers game. It’s worth noting the Vikings already beat the Packers once this year and close the season against the lowly Chicago Bears, so Peterson’s return might just be the spark the Vikings need to make the playoffs.
