Doug Martin reportedly suffers setback on injured hamstring

Tampa Bay Buccaneers v Arizona Cardinals

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers had hoped to get Doug Martin back from a hamstring injury this week, but the Pro Bowl running back reportedly suffered a setback last week and there is no timetable for his return.

“Doug did unfortunately suffer a little setback a week ago Sunday,” Buccaneers coach Dirk Koetter told reporters Wednesday, via ESPN.com’s Jenna Laine. “We’ll just have to see when he can make it back. There’s no timetable on that right now … but Doug did suffer a little setback.”

Martin suffered the injury in Week 2 against the Arizona Cardinals.

The Buccaneers are thin at running back after placing Charles Sims on injured reserve last week. Jacquizz Rodgers got the start in Week 5 against the Carolina Panthers, rushing for 101 yards on 30 carries. He will continue to be the team’s lead back until Martin can get healthy.

Tampa Bay had the fifth-most rushing yards in the NFL last season. Entering Week 7 of this season, the Buccaneers have the 29th-rated rushing offense.
