The Dallas Cowboys’ rookie record for rushing yards is in reach for running back Ezekiel Elliott on Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
With 891 rushing yards entering Week 10, Elliott needs just 117 to break Tony Dorsett’s record of 1,007 yards by a Cowboys rookie.
The fourth overall pick in the 2016 draft is averaging an NFL-high 111.4 rushing yards per game this season.
Elliott can reach another important milestone on Sunday.
According to ESPN Stats and Information, Elliott needs just 109 yards to become the third player in NFL history—joining Adrian Peterson and Eric Dickerson—to rush for 1,000 yards in their first nine career games.
Speaking of Dickerson, Elliott remains within reach of the all-time rookie rushing record. He is currently on pace for 1,782 rushing yards in 2016, or 26 fewer than Dickerson’s record—set in 1983.
Records are nice, but Elliott has repeatedly said he only cares wins.
“I mean, it’s something you’re going to see and people are going to say, but it’s really not important,” Elliott said, via ESPN. “We’ve talked before what is important is week in, week out getting wins and getting better.”
