Here’s a story to get everyone into the holiday spirit.
Former NFL wide receiver P.K. Sam says that 10 years ago Wednesday, then-Dolphins coach Nick Saban cut him from the practice squad for missing practice to be with his dying father.
Thank you nick saban @AlabamaFTBL. 10 yrs ago today you cut me from the @MiamiDolphins bc I flew home to hug my dad before he died. CLASSY!

This was right around the time that Saban denied rumors that he was going to take the Alabama head coaching job only to take the job right after the season.
Saban coached the Dolphins for two seasons, going 9-7 in 2005 and 6-10 in 2006. After leaving his unfinished business behind in Miami, he’s won four national championships at Alabama while the Dolphins have made the playoffs just once.
Sam was brought back for training camp in 2007, but according to Pro Football Reference he only appeared in two regular-season games, both with the Patriots in 2004.
It’s safe to assume that Sam doesn’t send Saban Christmas cards.
