Jordan Matthews: Wentz-Prescott could be next Manning-Brady

Minnesota Vikings v Philadelphia Eagles

Eagles wide receiver Jordan Matthews was asked the question on everyone’s mind, and he answered it by saying that yes, Carson Wentz and Dak Prescott could become the new Peyton Manning and Tom Brady.

“You’re talking about two guys that could potentially be like a Brady and Peyton rivalry. The only difference is, you’re going to get this two times a year, and possibly playoffs,” Matthews told ESPN.com.

Matthews spoke glowingly of both his quarterback and Prescott ahead of Sunday night’s game between the Eagles (4-2) and Cowboys (5-1) at Dallas.

According to the Elias Sports Bureau via ESPN.com, Sunday’s game will be the only matchup of rookie quarterbacks (with a minimum of three starts) since 1970 in which their combined winning percentage was .750 or better going into the game.

Matthews didn’t start the Manning-Brady comparison. He just expanded on the question from a member of a media that apparently is starved for a quarterback rivalry to replace Manning-Brady.

So much can happen in the NFL, including injuries and performance regressions, that it’s way too early to put Wentz and Prescott in the category of Manning and Brady.  However, it’s never to early to start backing these players in your Online Wagering.

But if Sunday night’s game lives up to its billing, then that 1 p.m. time slot the Cowboys and Eagles are scheduled for in Week 17 could be moved to at least the 4:25 p.m. stage. Manning-Brady reached a point where every showdown was played either in prime time or late afternoon.

Therefore, if Wentz and Prescott ever meet for a 1 p.m. game moving forward, then they won’t yet compare to Manning-Brady.
