Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton continues to push the envelope as far as fashion is concerned. He’s worn some eccentric things to postgame press conferences over the years, sparking a lot of discussion on social media.
With the Panthers hosting the Saints on Thursday Night Football, Newton made sure to have a special pair of cleats ready to wear for the game. And you really need to see them.
Here’s what Newton will be wearing—and yes, that looks like a squirrel’s tail on the heel.

ESPN’s Britt McHenry asked a Panthers player exactly what type of material was featured on the cleats. At this time, it’s unsure exactly what they are, but an animal’s tail seems to be the popular opinion.
