Odell Beckham Jr. wants Usain Bolt to help him get faster

Dallas Cowboys v New York Giants

Odell Beckham Jr. has asked Usain Bolt to help him increase his speed during the offseason.

Bolt holds the world records in the 100 meters (9.58 seconds) and 200 meters (19.19). In reaching out to Bolt, Beckham sent him the following video of his 61-yard touchdown against the Cowboys Sunday night.

According to SI.com, Beckham’s recorded speed on that play was 21.85 miles per hour.

It’s unclear from just a tweet how serious Beckham is about working with Bolt. There aren’t too many cases where world-class athletes make their correspondence public like that.

In running to his 100-meter record in 2009, Bolt topped out at 27.8 mph. So at least in his prime, the 30-year-old Bolt was faster than Beckham is now.

It’s been said that you can’t teach speed. Beckham already has plenty of speed, but if he wants to be as fast as Bolt he can’t get his hopes up.
