Houston Texans coach Bill O’Brien told reporters Friday that running back Lamar Miller will be a gametime decision against the Detroit Lions on Sunday.
Miller injured his right shoulder Monday night against the Denver Broncos and played just 44 percent of the Texans’ offensive snaps; third-year running back Alfred Blue played 51.
Miller was a limited participant in practice this week and told reporters Friday that his shoulder felt some numbness, but he would be surprised if he doesn’t play.
With Brock Osweiler struggling at quarterback, the Texans have heavily relied on Miller and the running game. Through seven games, Houston has the eighth-most rushing attempts in the league with 187. Miller has rushed for 581 yards and a touchdown on 136 carries.
Detroit has the league’s 18th-ranked run defense, allowing 111.4 rushing yards per game this season. If Miller can’t play Sunday, then Blue would be his replacement.
