Washington Redskins outside linebacker Ryan Kerrigan has flown under the radar his entire career. But he needs just half a sack to get the attention that he deserves. As Dan Hellie of NFL Network pointed out, Kerrigan could join the likes of Reggie White, Jared Allen, Derrick Thomas and DeMarcus Ware.
Ryan Kerrigan needs .5 sacks to become the 5th player in NFL history
(R. White, J. Allen, D. Thomas, D. Ware) w/ 7.5 sacks in 1st 6 seasons.— Dan Hellie (@DanHellie) November 18, 2016
A first-round draft pick out of Purdue in 2011, Kerrigan has recorded 54.5 sacks in five-plus seasons with the Redskins. He currently ranks third on the team’s all-time sacks list behind Charles Mann (82) and Dexter Manley (91).
Kerrigan could get the half a sack he needs this Sunday against the Green Bay Packers. Aaron Rodgers has been sacked 22 times this season, and his offensive line is banged up. Left tackle David Bakhtiari has been limited in practice this week with a knee injury and right guard T.J. Lang has been ruled out with a knee injury.
