Carolina Panthers linebacker Luke Kuechly missed his third consecutive game with a concussion last Sunday. And while head coach Ron Rivera told reporters last week that no decision has been made about shutting him down, several players that know Kuechly believe he should sit out the rest of the season.
Four veteran players sent messages to Bleacher Report’s Mike Freeman, fearing for Kuechly, who also missed three games with a concussion last season.
“He needs to think about not 30 years from now but five,” one of the players wrote to Freeman.
One player even said that Kuechly, who is still just 25 years old, should strongly consider retiring.
Kuechly, a three-time Pro Bowl selection and former Defensive Player of the Year, has amassed 442 tackles in four-plus seasons with the Panthers. He was injured Nov. 17 in a game against the New Orleans Saints. His status for next Monday’s game against the Washington Redskins has yet to be determined.
