Patriots head coach Bill Belichick isn’t a fan of analytics, apparently.
Belichick is more of an old-school guy, and really isn’t interested in hearing about advanced statistics and metrics, as evidenced by what happened during a recent press conference.
A reporter was attempting to insinuate that the Patriots’ offense is predicated on the quarterback getting the ball out of his hands very quickly, and used some stats to back that up. He asked Belichick if he agreed, and got this response:
“What the hell is that?” Belichick remarked. “I mean, you can take those advanced websites and metric them in whatever you want. I don’t know. I have no idea. I’ve never looked at one. I wouldn’t even care to look at one. I don’t even care what they say.”
