WATCH: Brock Osweiler foolishly catches own pass for loss

Houston Texans v Jacksonville Jaguars

The Texans put together a solid drive and looked poised to tie Monday’s game against the Raiders at 10-10 after a Lamar Miller run put them on the one-yard line with a first-and-goal situation.

Rather than sticking with the ground game, though, they dialed up a pass, and to their credit, Duane Brown was wide-open in the end zone by himself.

Brock Osweiler tried to float the ball to him, but didn’t throw it high enough, and defensive end Denico Autry batted it back in the quarterback’s direction. For some reason, Osweiler caught it, and the result of the play was a six-yard loss.

We have to wonder why he didn’t just bat it down.

Maybe Osweiler was just trying to boost his completion percentage. Either way, the Texans did end up scoring a touchdown on a pass to Braxton Miller, so it all worked out in the end.
