Khalil Mack gets first career INT on pick-six

Denver Broncos v Oakland Raiders

There’s been a lot of talk about how Raiders edge rusher Khalil Mack has yet to produce a game-changing, highlight-reel play during his career so far, but that discussion ended on Sunday when he showcased his athleticism to pick off a pass and take it to the house.

The Panthers were backed up to their own 13-yard line, faced with a second-and-five situation, and Cam Newton tried to force a screen pass to Fozzy Whitaker. It didn’t end well. The play started with Newton faking a screen to the other side, so he probably assumed the Raiders were off balance, but Mack was not fooled. He stepped into the passing lane and reached up to pick off the pass for the pick-six.

Not too many edge rushers are smart and athletic enough to make that play. Mack is showing why he’s already one of the best in the league at his position.
