The 2002 Masters is now underway from the first round at Augusta…here is a live update of the exciting golf action of the first major of the year! (All times ET).
3:10 PM–Tiger Woods bogeys 14th hole…moves to even par…leader is currently Players champion Cameron Smith of Australia who is at -4.
3:11 PM–Five golfers are at -3 and one shot back of Smith…there you can find Match Play champion and World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, 2016 Masters champ Danny Willett of England, American Daniel Berger, South Korea’s Sung-jae Im and Chile’s Joaquin Niemann.
3:20 PM–Birdies by Smith and have put them at -5 and -4 respectively…Smith has completed 15 holes and Im has completed seven.
3:23 PM–Berger and Scheffler make par putts to remain two strokes back.
3:27 PM–Report that Paul Casey withdrew from the Masters prior to the start of his round due to a back injury. He also withdrew from the WGC Matchplay.
3:30 PM–Smith birdies 16th hole to move to -6. Only one other player ever have won the Players Championship and the Masters in the same year. That was Woods in 2001.
3:32 PM–Tough start for Bryson DeChambeau as he is +3 after 16th…he double bogeyed the 14th…
3:38 PM–Smith has a two-stroke lead over Im at this time…
3:40 PM–Scheffler has long birdie attempt to pull within two strokes of the lead on the 14th…just misses
3:40 PM–Niemann has nice shot out of the bunker…creativity reminds me of Sergio Garcia
3:43 PM–Hideki Matsuyama of Japan, the defending champ is on course after dealing with a sore neck…short birdie attempt on 15th after an eagle putt…no eagles yet at the Masters in round one today so far…
3:43 PM–Tiger birdies 16th…back to -1…
3:49 PM–Very nice rebound for Smith…he double bogeyed the first, but has since then had eight birdies…amazing start to the year for the Aussie who has his dad in attendance…already won the Players Championship and Sentry Tournament of Champions in 2022
3:52 PM–Woods has birdie attempt on the 17th hole after a nice approach shot
3:55 PM–Birdie for Dustin Johnson…moves to -2
3:57 PM–The health of Louis Oosthuizen in question…seems to be dealing with a possible back problem
3:58 PM–Smith’s tee shot on the 18th moves into the trees.
4:00 PM–Report that tee times were pushed back 1/2 an hour today due to weather.
4:02 PM–Im has now completed nine holes and two back of Smith.
4:05 PM–Fleetwood ends his round with a disappointing +3.
4:06 PM–Remember the par at the Masters is 72.
4:06 PM–Willett must love Augusta National…in the clubhouse at -3…remember the 2016 Masters well, as it was a Sunday collapse for Jordan Spieth…
4:10 PM–Australia has a rich history in golf success, but only has one champion and that was Adam Scott in 2013…

4:15 PM–Double bogey for Smith…bizarre scorecard as he double bogeyed the first, double bogeyed the 18th…eight birdies in between…now tied for the lead with Im at -4
4:18 PM–Now 19 golfers either in the lead or within three strokes of the lead and under par…bogey for Im on the 10th has moved him to -3
4:20 PM–Canadian update…Conners tied for ninth at -1, Hughes in 33rd at +1, and Weir in 50th at +2
4:24 PM–Scoring supposed to be high on Friday and Saturday due to cold weather and high winds.
4:26 PM–Woods finishes his round at -1…Niemann, who was also golfing in the same group as Tiger, finishes at -3
4:28 PM–World number one Scottie Scheffler now tied for the lead with Smith at -4…one up on Willett, Niemann and Im…two up on Dustin Johnson, Zalatoris, and Kokrak
4:36 PM–Woods admits to having an awful warmup…disappointed with his play on the eighth hole
4:42 PM–Dustin Johnson, the 2022 Masters champ is at -3 after front nine and one back of Scheffler and Smith
4:42 PM–Will Zalatoris, who finished tied for second last year behind Matsuyama, is -2 after nine holes
4:48 PM–We have a new player tied for the lead…Dustin Johnson is at -4 with Smith and Scheffler
4:48 PM–According to Nick Faldo of CBS Sports, the conditions this weekend at Augusta will be very similar to the conditions in November of 2020 when Dustin Johnson won

6:16 PM–Just like Canadian Mike Weir in 2003, Canadian Corey Conners made some great shots in his Masters round to get himself out of trouble…a great third shot from the patrons area got him close to the hole, where he delivered with a key par putt to finish his round at -2
6:19 PM–When Johnson won the Masters in 2020, Smith and Im were tied for second…now Im is leading at -5 with Johnson and Smith tied for second at -4
6:24 PM–Of the players in contention at this time, only three golfers are left on the course…Im is -5 through 16, Johnson is -4 through 14, and Zalatoris is -3 through 13…the other six golfers in contention are done…Smith is at -4, Scheffler, Willett and Niemann are at -3, while Conners and Kokrak are at -2… of the nine players in contention, there are four Americans and five international players

6:50 PM–Johnson finishes 15 with a par
7 PM–FedEx Cup champion Patrick Cantlay has back-to-back birdies on 15 and 16 to go to -2, and three back of Im
7:08 PM–Johnson bogeys 17th and moves back to -3 and in a tie for third…Im leads at -5 and Smith in second at -4…first bogey of the day for the 2020 Masters champ…had birdies on the 2nd, 7th, 9th and 10th holes…
7:15 PM–Johnson in trouble on 18…hits a tree with a tee shot, and then goes into the gallery with his approach shot…
7:20 PM–Johnson comes through with a par after a great third shot from the rough…finishes the round at -3 and two back of Im, and one back of Smith.
7:35 PM–Jon Rahm finishes his round at +2, which is a surprise for the pre-tournament favourite and world number two.
7:36 PM–Zalatoris has a long bogey putt to drop to -1, but remains in red figures.
