Playoff games are all about momentum and seizing the moment, and Saturday night’s Game 1 of the National League Championship Series had all of that.
The Cubs cruised throughout most of the game, holding on to a 3-1 lead, with many believing that Game 1 was all but over, but they were wrong. Adrian Gonzalez came through in the clutch with a two-out, two-run single off Aroldis Chapman to tie the game at 3-3 in the top of the eighth inning, and the Dodgers suddenly had all the momentum.
A leadoff double in the bottom of the inning gave the Cubs some hope, but after two outs, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts made a brave move. He decided to walk Chris Coghlan to load the bases, and have Joe Blanton pitch to pinch hitter Miguel Montero.
Bad move.
With two strikes, Montero blasted a pitch into the stands for a pinch-hit grand slam.

The Cubs then celebrated appropriately at the plate.

Dexter Fowler followed that up with a home run of his own, and Chicago won Game 1, 8-4.
