The Cleveland Browns gave it their all and nearly defeated the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, but the 26-24 loss indicates that interim coach Gregg Williams may not get the job going forward.
From the getgo, it’s appeared as if ownership and management were looking for a veteran, big-name head coach to work with Baker Mayfield and the team going forward. After all, the Browns have a talented roster, with a number of draft picks — which makes them, dare we say it… attractive! But that’s the reality of the situation.
A recent report indicates Mike McCarthy — who was rumored to have interest in the job — will become the team’s next head coach.

This reporter writes for the Arizona Republic, so nothing is confirmed as of yet. McCarthy was linked to the Cardinals job as well, so it’s possible there’s some sort of connection there.
Either way, the potential fit does make sense. McCarthy is a former quarterbacks coach, and figures to be a great pairing with the fiery Baker Mayfield. He has plenty of experience, having coached the Packers since 2006, and winning a Super Bowl during that time. The report came out of left field, but we won’t be surprised if McCarthy does get the job. Stay tuned.
