Actor Billy Crystal has done so much throughout the course of his career, accomplishing nearly everything possible that’s related to the silver screen, in terms of awards, accolades and roles.
And now he’s preparing to do something that will make him even more well-rounded.
Crystal will be on the call for the Jan. 31 matchup between the Clippers and Lakers at Staples Center, doing so alongside longtime play-by-play announcer Ralph Lawler.
“It’ll be a blast to call a Clippers game alongside Billy Crystal,” Lawler said. in the official press release. “We’ve spent a lot of time talking Clippers basketball over the years, but having him join me on the call will be a whole new experience. I still can’t believe it’s my final season, and to be recognized by a great, longtime Clippers fan like Billy is an honor. I hope he’s been studying his Lawler’s Law books.”
Lawler has called Clippers games for 40 years, and this will be his final year doing so for the team. Crystal has been a season-ticket holder since 1985, so he’s been attending games regularly almost as long as Lawler has. It should be extremely entertaining seeing them together in the booth, and we’re excited for it.
