The Cleveland Browns’ winning drought has reached 365 days.
The last time the Browns won a game was last Dec. 13, when Cleveland beat the San Francisco 49ers by a 24-10 score.
The Browns quarterback that day? None other than Johnny Manziel, the troubled Heisman Trophy winner who is no longer with the team. Johnny Football threw for 270 yards and one touchdown as Cleveland cruised to a win over Jim Tomsula’s 49ers.
The losses have piled up in Cleveland since then. The Browns lost their last three games in 2015, and they’ve been defeated in all 13 games to start 2016. That’s 16 straight losses for a franchise that hasn’t had a winning season since 2007.
Throw in the four preseason games to start this season, and Cleveland’s losing streak is 20 games.
“It’s not something that you ever want go through in your career,” Browns tight end Gary Barnidge said, via Pat McManamon of ESPN.
Cleveland is just 3-26 over the last two seasons. With three more losses to finish 2016, the Browns will join the Detroit Lions as the only teams to ever end a season with a 0-16 record.
Of Cleveland’s 13 losses, only four have come by one score or less. The Browns haven’t been within one score of a team since a 31-28 loss to the New York Jets back in late October. Of course, the Jets came back from a 20-7 half time deficit to beat the Browns in Cleveland.
The Browns finish the season with games against the Buffalo Bills, San Diego Chargers and Pittsburgh Steelers. Cleveland might have to wait until 2017 for the the team’s first win since late in 2015.
