It seems as if the NFL really has become the No Fun League, as celebrations are no longer a part of the game.
Apparently, neither is trash talking.
Jaguars receiver Marqise Lee was flagged for an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on Sunday, but it’s not for the type of thing you’d think. Lee spoke about it after the game, and said it was for using a racial slur.
“It was back and forth,” Lee said, via Mike DiRocco of ESPN.com. “In the midst of the game, emotion is going from both teams. It just so happened the ref heard me, so therefore I got the flag. I’ve got to fess up to it.”
That’s absolutely ridiculous. We should ask former players about what used to be said on the field. Better yet, go sit courtside at an NBA game, and you’ll hear much worse.
