The Eagles “secret” hideout in Cherry Hill…

This is a short piece for what hopefully is the final lockout Sunday of the 2011 season…

I’m keeping it short because I’m experimenting with input from a remote location…and a portable laptop. Kinda like JB99 who’s out riding fences, but I’m still on my back porch…

Also, I had to switch computers temporarily because a security software glitch came up on the publisher’s network which basically declared me a “menace to Eagles Eye” on Saturday and denied me access to our own hometown ballpark…you can’t make dishes up. I think my little problem with that will be fixed by my bosses later today… I couldn’t even log in to Eagles Eye on Saturday to enjoy the comments…

The “Cherry Hill” angle is just a little snippet from the Associated Press I’m sure many of you have already seen.

Tight end Clay Harbor is one of 35 or so Eagles who have been steadily working out at Power Train Institute in Cherry Hill, New Jersey…and who should be ready to go all out once the lockout is officially ended…

CHERRY HILL, N.J. (AP) July 23 — Clay Harbor finished a grueling leg workout and headed out to catch some passes in triple-digit temperatures.

He wasn’t alone.

As the end of the NFL lockout seemingly draws near, several members of the Philadelphia Eagles spent their last days of pre-training camp freedom doing the same thing they did most of the summer. They worked out at Power Train Institute.

Harbor, a second-year tight end, was among a large group of players who worked with training guru Steve Saunders the past few months. Saunders said he’s trained about 35 Eagles during this unusual offseason in which players haven’t been able to use their team’s facilities.

When the league finally resumes and camps open, the defending NFC East champions may not be too far behind their normal pace.

“It’s been a really good group,” Saunders said. “It’s a testament to the Eagles guys how many have stayed around and worked hard. These guys talk about going to a Super Bowl. The work they put in without coaches’ supervision speaks to that. Nobody would know if they took off the whole offseason but these guys were in here working hard.”

There you have it.  A nice fluff piece, to be sure… but on a 100-degree F. Sunday, and having experienced being essentially banned by myself… it’s all I got!  I’ll be interested in seeing if this little blurb even makes it to the airwaves…

Meanwhile, enjoy your Sunday and stay cool and hydrated…we’ve got a lot of work to do this coming week.
