One group of diehard fans will come out of the Eagles-Giants game knowing exactly how that poor guy in Arizona felt the other day when his girlfriend caught on fire…
A 911 caller says his girlfriend is on fire. Cue the laugh track. Lalo Delgado was outraged when he reported the horrific emergency and heard an Arizona dispatcher chuckle.
“My car just kinda caught on fire, and my girlfriend caught on fire,” Delgado says on the 911 recording.
He and the girlfriend were stranded on a rural road outside of Tucson, KGUN 9 reported.
“Is your girlfriend still on fire?” the Pima County Sheriff’s dispatcher asks. He tells her “no” and hears laughter in the background.
Whichever team loses the Eagles-Giants game on Sunday, you can expect a certain percentage of their fan base to make a similar 911 call…and receive a similar amount of sympathy.
Our venerable member of the Four Horsemen at PE.com, J. "Woody" Wood, is already calling for the Eagles to "fire everybody and start over"…
Not so fast, Woody ! Besides, there are plenty of Giants fans who are feeling the same way about their team's organization right now, too.
Let's at least wait for the game with the Giants to play out before anyone hits the panic button.
I put 5 Questions to Carnac the Magnificent…er, I mean Andy Furman of UltimateNYG.com … to kind of get a better feeling for what the Giants fan base expects to catch fire on Sunday:
Eli is comfortable throwing to all 3 WRs (Cruz, Nicks and Randle) and his new TE Myers. Nicks had 3 drops last week which hurt the team, but Eli will go back his way w/o question. Cruz is having a great year, the best player on an offense that has frankly been awful this season to date. Randle had a strong camp but his production has been lacking in the regular season. Eli will throw his way and Giants fans like his future.
Scary answer- we have none. They all frankly stink right now. The sacks they do have are a blind squirrel finding a nut. We are all counting on JPP to get better after back surgery this Spring. He and everyone else have been invisible.
Another scary answer- we have no run blocking. And this is why I am screaming at the top of my lungs to get David Wilson out into space with outlet flares and intentional checkdowns. The Giants need to run screens too, but lol, it is embarrassing how inept they are at execution on this.
Lost in this 0-4 debacle is that the Giants were competitive in 3 of these games. Crazy but true- if just a couple of things had gone right for this team, they could be a 2-2 mirage instead of an 0-4 festering sore. But as the great Parcells said, you are what your record says you are. Still, I like the Giants' chances this weekend and will call for the win. Regulars to my site know I am objective to a fault, not sugar coating any garbage I see, and in 2013 the Giants OL is horrible. But the Eagles defense is horrible as well, so it's your slop vs ours. I think Eli will have a good enough game to make the difference (if he isn't sent to the hospital first). The Giants defense is playing solid enough to give them a chance to be competitive. The Eagles will be better off using McCoy in pass than run, as the Giants run defense has been good. Target our weak LBer unit. There should be plenty of scoring… Giants 34- Eagles 31.
