It’s official: Johnny Football Manziel will be in the NFL in 2014. Manziel ended speculation on Wednesday by filing paperwork to enter the 2014 NFL Draft, ESPN reports.
The former Texas A&M quarterback won the Heisman Trophy in 2012, and followed it up with an even better statistical season in 2013.
Where he will be drafted is anyone’s guess. Some draft experts believe he could be a top five pick, while others think he could fall out of the first round entirely. It would stand to reason that Manziel would come out if he believes that his draft position will be at its peak right now.
The Eagles are scheduled to pick at #22 in the 2014 draft order. The interesting question to Philly phans and club management alike— if Johnny Football is still there at #22, do you take him?— or do you look for another building piece in the DT, Safety, LB or WR categories?
If still on the board at #22 (or if pick order changes by trades on the board to get to select earlier), do you think the Eagles will be tempted to claim Manziel?
I'm not sure, and leaning to the side of "doubt it"….
What makes this kid special to the Eagles is his apparent ability to execute a triple-option offense…and yet to also have the ability to scramble out of broken plays and make something happen with his arm or his legs.

That's a pretty creative look at how some analysts hope for the Eagles to get better by getting Johnny Football—and how to accomplish it.
Also extremely speculative…. You know what you've got in Foles and Barkley (and maybe, if he sticks around, Vick)… why rock the boat and blow the chance to use your 1st Round pick to beef up other important positions?

"I don't think Manziel would be a good fit for the Eagles. He is a right-handed Mike Vick, but not as strong of an arm. Even though he can run well, I wouldn't want him running option off tackle and then get leveled by a linebacker. IF he were to be drafted by the Eagles, I would make it mandatory for him to contact Drew Brees and get mentored by him (I know they can't make him do that in reality…). Let's face it, as great as his numbers were, and all of his great plays, he is still limited in arm strength (not as strong as Foles, even) and height (listed as 6'1", but probably closer to Brees height 5'11"). And not to mention he is like 190lbs soaking wet and holding 10 cheesesteaks……" —
