Here we go again… 2015 Eagles training camp yet another mystery ship…

streit

Some things look good on paper…. new additions, important subtractions….but in the end, we really don’t know what this 2015 Eagles team is all about or what they will accomplish.

Neither do they….

Sunday, August 2: Camp Opens

Tuesday, August 4: Open Practice at Lincoln Financial Field

Wednesday, August 5: No Practice

Sunday, August 9: Open Practice at Lincoln Financial Field

Monday, August 10: No Practice

Sunday, August 16: Eagles vs. Colts, 1 p.m.

Monday, August 17: No Practice

Wednesday, August 19: Closed Practice, Joint Workouts With Baltimore Ravens

Thursday, August 20: Closed Practice, Joint Workouts With Baltimore Ravens

Friday, August 21: Camp Closes

I believe the coaches go into this thing with one EYE on Sam Bradford’s post-ACL injury rehab progress and the other on their defensive secondary unit’s rebuild.  Both are equally crucial to how much fun we fans end up having rooting for this team in the fall and winter.

Only two (2) practices open to the public this summer….  that stinks.

We are pretty well-stocked at inside linebacker—that’s some good news.  Potentially you have a healthy Kiko Alonso, DeMeco Ryans, Mychal Kendricks and rookie Jordan Hicks ready to ball… and if you think 4 guys are too many at that position, think again.

“We can rotate them into the packages that we already have,” coordinator Bill Davis said during OTAs, via PhillyVoice’s Jimmy Kempski, “and there are packages where we can come up with three inside backers that play different kinds of hybrid positions. All three have a high football IQ, and the skill sets are different among all of them, so we can put in some packages to have all three of them out there.”

Maybe the most exciting prospects for the Eagles offense are congregating at the tight end position.

Alex Smith (the writer, not the QB!) was gushing over this group at PE.com.

I get the anticipation at this position. You have a group of athletes at tight end which is extremely versatile with just the right mix of experience and eager young talent.

Tight end is the least of the mysteries to be solved in 2015 Eagles TC.  I just hope we can hold on to at least one of the rookie prospects—because there are at least five other tight end-desperate NFL teams who will claim Gleichert, Tomlinson or Tukes if they are waived by the Eagles.

One of those teams is right down the road off I-95.
