A UFC veteran has found himself in some serious trouble.  South Korean lightweight Tae Hyun Bang, who is 2-3 in the UFC since he debuted in 2014,  has been indicted by prosecutors in his country for his involvement in a fight-fixing scam.  The Korean Herald reports that Bang was paid approximately $88,000 to throw his 2015 fight against Leo Kuntz at UFC Fight Night: Henderson vs Masvidal in Seoul.  You’ll notice, however, that Bang went on to earn a split decision victory over Kuntz that night.  That’s because he allegedly got scared off of following through with the plot after being questioned by UFC officials before the event after they noticed the betting odds on the fight had swung drastically – Bang moved from a -180 favorite to a +280 underdog.

We estimate that Bang was paid $22,500 for the fight from the UFC, so the temptation to throw a fight and earn four times that amount definitely could be there.  The 34-year-old hasn’t fought in the octagon since last September – however, despite being reported as no longer being employed with the UFC, he’s still currently listed on their website as an active fighter.
