Alshon’s debut as an Eagle coming up against the Bills in PS2…

Head coach Doug Pederson tells us we can expect to see Alshon Jeffery play at least one series on offense this Thursday night against the Buffalo Bills in PS2.  We also get to see our newest cornerback Ronald Darby in action for “a series or two”, according to Pederson.

Rookie DT Elijah Qualls  (6th round, Washington) should be getting a lot of playing time against the Bills on Thursday night. He had 30 snaps on defense last week at Lambeau Field and was credited with three solo tackles, one for a loss. Considering he got a late start in camp with a groin muscle pull, Qualls is moving up on the evaluation charts.

“I thought I played pretty well. I progressed. The tempo wasn’t a problem for me at all. I felt like practice is a little bit faster sometimes, but there were some times when we were on the field during long drives,” Qualls said. “I need more consistency with my technique. I know what the look is going to be. I know what I’m supposed to do. I just have to break some of my natural habits and play exactly as coach is asking me to play.”

Corey Graham, the Eagles’ newly acquired veteran safety/cornerback hybrid, says he’s ready to play against the Bills.

“I feel like I’m good now. It takes like a week to get your footing underneath you and it took about a week to get the new terminology down,” Graham said. “So I think I’m in a good place. I’m hoping I can get a chance to make some plays on Thursday night….It’s a Jim Schwartz defense. I played for him in Buffalo (in 2014)…It’s a matter of learning the language, the terminology. You’re basically playing the same defense everywhere. It’s the terminology that confuses guys.”

Another position to watch Thursday could be offensive tackle. Jason Peters was excused from Tuesday’s practice for personal reasons. If he is not back with the team in time, Lane Johnson will start at left tackle, and Matt Tobin will go at right tackle (with Halapoulivaati Vaitai sidelined with a knee injury).
