The UFC’s return trip to Madison Square Garden in New York has added another title fight to its lineup. And a grudge match at that, no less. UFC Bantamweight Champion Cody Garbrandt will defend his strap against former champion (and former teammate) T.J. Dillashaw at UFC 217 on November 4th. The UFC announced the news overnight.
Garbrandt and Dillashaw were first scheduled to fight at UFC 213 before the champ had to pull out due to a back injury. This will be Garbrandt’s first title defense since winning the belt from Dominick Cruz last December. He is a pristine 11-0 as a pro. Dillashaw, meanwhile, has won two straight since dropping the title to Cruz in January 2016. He is 14-3, with a 10-3 record inside the octagon.
UFC 217 will be headlined by UFC Middleweight Champion Michael Bisping defending his championship against the returning Georges St-Pierre.
