The UFC’s year-ending pay-per-view, UFC 219, finally has a title fight. A long-rumored Cris Cyborg-Holly Holm tilt has finally been made official today. The title up for grabs will be Cyborg’s UFC Women’s Featherweight Championship.
This will be Cyborg’s first title defense since winning the vacant strap this past July (but it’s kinda hard to defend your title when there aren’t any other fighters signed in your weight class). The ferocious striker has only lost once in her storied career – her first pro fight back in 2005. As for Holm, she is the former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion, and fought (and lost controversially) for the UFC’s inaugural 145-pound belt in February of this year. She has since bounced back with a KO victory over Bethe Correia in June.
UFC 219 goes down December 30th from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. It is not known at this time if Cyborg-Holm will be the headliner.
