Jets coach Adam Gase doesn’t seem to care that he’s been a never-ending meme this week, stemming from his bizarre facial expressions when the Jets announced him as head coach at a presser on Monday.
Gase, even this day and age, seems to be able to tune out all the negative press, which could be both a blessing and curse, now that he’ll be dealing with the New York media. He won’t be fazed by what writers publish, but he’ll also be out of touch with what critics are saying, so it will be interesting to see how that works out.
The Jets new head coach did make sure to point out that he doesn’t use social media, and he explained why he doesn’t read the negative press.
“I don’t have Twitter, Instagram,” Gase said, via the Palm Beach Post. “I don’t read the internet. I don’t watch TV. Like, all that stuff — it’s irrelevant to me. To me, it’s pollution of the brain. I really don’t care. …All I know is, do we win any games because of it?”
That seems like an outdated take, and may not be the correct strategy in this day and age.
