The Cleveland Browns attempted to trade star wide receiver Josh Gordon before he decided to enter an inpatient rehabilitation facility.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the asking price was hefty in the form of draft picks:
The Browns had discussions about Gordon with other teams as recently as last week and were looking to acquire a first- or second-day draft pick, sources told Schefter.
But Gordon’s trade value crashed after his announcement Thursday that he will enter the rehab facility, citing a need to “gain full control of my life.”
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport provided more context as the current situation around Gordon:
Sources: #Browns WR Josh Gordon entered rehab after what was described to me as a “slip-up,” a potential violation of drug & alcohol policy.

It sounds like Gordon’s time with the Browns has finally come to an end. He was set to return soon and make a difference for the struggling team after a good performance in the preseason. This latest hiccup, though, won’t go over well with an organization that has given him plenty of chances.
While many might wonder where Gordon lands next, the real focus should be on his first and foremost getting the help he needs off the field.
