Clemson destroyed Alabama in the national championship game, 44-16, and the Tigers handed head coach Nick Saban the worst coach of his collegiate career.
And it wasn’t just the score, the stats and the numbers — it was the way it happened. Clemson’s coaching staff coached circles around Alabama’s, and the Tigers somehow held the Crimson Tide scoreless in the second half. The Tigers showed a lot of different looks on defense that clearly confused Tide quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, forcing a number of turnovers and poor decisions.
Clemson has now won national titles in two of the past three seasons, which raises the question: Have the Tigers done enough to be declared a dynasty? Head coach Dabo Swinney addressed the subject after the game.

We agree with Swinney, but if the Tigers win another title next season, we’re ready to crown them. Alabama, to their credit, and had won two of the last three titles as well, until Monday’s loss.
Either way, Monday’s game looked like the changing of the guard, with Clemson and Alabama flip-flopping as the No. 1 and No. 2 college football programs.
