The Battle of the Birds will be the first Monday Night Football matchup of the 2015 season. Taking place at the Georgia Dome, both the Eagles and Falcons will look to begin the season on a high note and get a victory against a team that fell just short of the playoffs last season.
Currently, the average ticket price is $180, according to data provided by TiqIQ.com. The cheapest ticket available is $46. That is $7 pricier than if you were to opt for DISH TV for a month subscription at $39.99. At that price, you’d be able to receive ESPN (which will carry all Monday Night Football games) as well as ESPN2, the NFL Network, and RedZone. So you’d be able to watch all the top Eagles moments of the month for less than the price of admission.
Hopefully the Eagles will provide some viewing pleasure in the first month of the season. That will start with what should be a very difficult road game for the Birds. The Falcons quarterback and wide receiver combo of Matt Ryan and Julio Jones will provide a big mismatch for the Eagles secondary and they’ll have to limit Julio’s post-catch destruction. The offensive line for the Falcons has been a weak point over the past few seasons, so if the Eagles can apply pressure early and often, that will go a long way in keeping Ryan and Jones off a rhythm.
The opener will hopefully be the first regular season appearance for Sam Bradford in a Philadelphia uniform, as well as newly acquired running back DeMarco Murray. Bradford and Murray have dealt with injuries in the past so getting through the preseason unscathed isn’t a guarantee, but if they can do just that, they’ll be ready for the Monday night spotlight. All of Eagles fandom is eager to see Chip Kelly’s new toys on the gridiron and many are expecting an even better offense from years past.
A road loss won’t be the end of the world to start the season, but certainly wouldn’t be what Bradford, Murray, and Kelly want. If the defense can hold its end of the bargain and make some timely stops, it will be up to the three of them to bring home the W.
