Welcome to the first edition of the Eagles Weekly Recap for the 2017 season. The wait is finally over as the Eagles gear up for the 2017 season, and the excitement-level in Philadelphia is quickly rising as the hours count down. Let’s get into it:
- This afternoon, the Eagles open up the 2017 regular season as they head to FedEx Field to take on the Washington Redskins. Look for quarterback Carson Wentz to try to find his groove as he throws against one of the most dangerous cornerbacks in Josh Norman. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
- Although some players have been listed with various minor injuries, head coach Doug Pederson assured earlier this week that all active players have been practicing, and that everyone should be available for today’s season opener.
- Speaking of health, it was discovered Friday that former Eagles long-snapper Jon Dorenbos has an aortic aneurysm which required immediate heart surgery. The discovery came during his physical with the New Orleans Saints, leading to the belief that the required physical as a result of the trade may have saved his life.
- In an interesting tidbit, Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie commented on the current situation surrounding quarterback Colin Kaepernick, joining the ranks of those who believe he is not being blacklisted by the NFL. Despite meeting with a few teams, the free-agent, who continues his fight for social justice, has yet to be offered a deal.
That’s all for this week. Stay tuned with Total Sports Live for the latest involving the Philadelphia Eagles.
