GRAND LAKE THEATRE, OAKLAND, CA (8/13/2018) — The NBA Golden State Warriors gave a private screening of their 2017-18 championship run to select season ticket holders, employees and media in Oakland.
Before the curtains were unveiled, TV play-by-play announcer Bob Fitzgerald had a brief Q&A with beatwriters Monte Poole of NBC Sports Bay Area, Anthony Slater of The Athletic SF and Mark Medina of the San Jose Mercury. They rehashed their favorite memories of covering the latest championship run.
“Fitz” then had a surprise acknowledgment of Rick Welts‘ induction into the Pro Basketball Hall Of Fame.
To cheers from the Grand Lake Theater crowd, the movie — available on DVD (see below) — acknowledged the regular-season contributions of Quinn Cook during Steph Curry‘s injury, Jordan Bell‘s emergence as a potential starting center, Kevon Looney in the Western Conference Finals against the Houston Rockets, and JaVale McGee in the NBA Finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Here’s a compilation video from the screening:
