Limited contending options

With the Warriors super team transforming the standard for winning a championship, there is barely a handful of teams who have any chance of being competitive.

The Warriors initiated one of the craziest offseasons we have ever seen, with talent moving all over the place. Teams know that they need to stack as much as they can to get any chance, and players know it is impossible to carry things by themselves.

The top teams in the league become even more appealing to the top players, when they know how difficult it would be to try and start from the ground up and win a championship.

Right now, the Celtics are one of the few teams that are going in a direction that might allow them to contend. The players on the team know that and free agents know that, and the dominance of the Warriors certainly makes the Celtics a more appealing destination.

The Warriors have made it easier for the Celtics to hold onto the talent they have developed, while being a more tempting option for any free agent. The Celtics may not be quite the Warriors, but they have built something that players can believe in.

Right now, the Celtics really are one of the only teams that you can have any hope for, and that might make all the difference in getting the pieces they need to actually compete with the Warriors.
