After helping the Cleveland Indians secure a World Series berth for the first time since 1997, fans thanked Ryan Merritt in the best way possible by buying him gifts off his wedding registry.
Per MLB.com’s Ben Cosman, Indians fans found Merritt’s wedding registry during Game 5 on Wednesday and began purchasing items that he and his fiancée, Sarah Brushaber, had listed. Bath towels, muffin tins, pizza cutters, you name it, the fans bought it.

“Honestly, we didn’t really believe it at first,” Brushaber said, via MLB.com’s Jordan Bastian. “We just kind of thought it was out there and people knew about it, but it’s just unreal. That was just the last thing we expected to come out of this. It’s just crazy. Honestly, I can’t even comprehend that kind of support. That people not only care about Ryan’s career, but care about his personal life, is just unbelievable.”
“They’re probably going to buy it before our friends get to it,” Merritt said. “Hopefully we don’t end up with like five Keurigs or something.”
Merritt pitched 4 1/3 shutout innings for the Indian in Game 5. The 24-year-old entered the game having only one career start to his name.
