Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo turned 22 years old on Tuesday and is barely scratching the surface of his potential.
The Greece native continues to improve with each passing year since being drafted 15th overall in 2013, and Bucks coach Jason Kidd thinks he can be a mix of two future NBA Hall of Famers: Dirk Nowitzki and LeBron James.
Per ESPN.com’s Brian Windhorst:
“Having being around some of the best in the world in LeBron (James) and Dirk (Nowitzki),” Kidd said referencing former Team USA and Dallas Mavericks teammates, “wouldn’t it be cool to have those two combined as one player? Maybe that could happen.”
Antetokounmpo is a skilled passer and ball-handler and has the ability to get to the basket and finish at a high percentage similar to that of James, but he lacks Nowitzki’s shooting touch to be the complete package.
This season, Antetokounmpo is shooting 30.6 percent from mid-range and 25.6 percent from 3-point range, according to NBA.com. He needs to improve his jump shot before he can be considered a Dirk-LeBron hybrid.
