Sixers center Joel Embiid must have been excited over his contract extension, as he scored 20 points in the first half of his first-ever preseason game Wednesday night.
It took Embiid only 11 minutes to drop 20, haul in seven rebounds and also block a shot, which is about as efficient as a big man can be.
Embiid must have known he was in the zone, because at one point late in the second quarter, he banked in a short jumper after being fouled, for a three-point play. Embiid then had this to say on the court about the Nets’ defense:
“They can’t f—ing guard me!” he exclaimed.

It turns out he was right.
