UFC 218 was looking for a headlining fight, and now it has one. Yesterday it was revealed that UFC Featherweight Champion Max Holloway will defend his belt against former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar.
Holloway gained the interim title last December when he bested Anthony Pettis at UFC 206, then won the title unification bout against Jose Aldo at UFC 212 in June. Edgar, meanwhile, was the UFC’s Lightweight Champion from April 2010 to February 2012. He’s been fighting at 145 pounds since February 2013, going 7-2, with his only loses coming in title fights against Aldo.
UFC 218 goes down December 2nd from the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan.
