President Donald Trump is a busy man, but Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett wants the POTUS to carve out time in his schedule so the two can have a sit down.
Bennett recently appeared on “Anderson Cooper 360,” and made it clear that he wants to talk about racial injustice involving law enforcement, as well as the national anthem issue. This issue hits close to home for the Seahawks pass-rusher, who claims he was a victim of racial profiling by the Las Vegas Police Department during the night of the Conor McGregor-Floyd Mayweather fight.
“It happened to me, and it could happen to anybody, but at the end of the day, I don’t hate law enforcement,” Bennett said. “I don’t hate any police officers. But I think there are some people out there that could judge you on the color of your skin, and I don’t want people to say, ‘Hey, you’re bashing every single officer.’ I don’t believe that every single officer is a bad person. I’m not going that way.”
He then requested a formal sit down with the president.
“I would love to sit down with the president and talk about these issues and be able to find a way to fix them or be able to find a way to have the voice of the people, the people that don’t have a voice, that they’re not listening to.”
