San Francisco 49ers linebacker NaVorro Bowman needed a cart to leave the field Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys after suffering a lower-leg injury.
It was a scary moment, with the issue seemingly caused without any contact.
The team provided an update:

Bowman missed all of 2014 with an injury and has worked his way back to elite form over the past few years. Entering Sunday, he had already recorded 27 total tackles, one forced fumble and two passes defensed over three games.
Several observers provided context:
Several teammates gave NaVorro Bowman a handshake/tap on shoulder pads before he was carted to locker room. #49ers

49ers lead doctor Tim McAdams had to rush from bench (NaVorro Bowman's left lower leg) onto field for injured CB Rashard Robinson (looks OK)

The good news is Bowman limped to the sideline before needing the cart to leave the field. If lucky, this is a sign he didn’t suffer another long-term injury. San Francisco was in a 21-17 hole when he left the game after already allowing two passing scores to Dallas rookie quarterback Dak Prescott.
One of the best in the game at 28 years old, the 49ers will miss Bowman no matter the length of his potential absence. Stay tuned for updates.
