Let’s just get this one out of the way. Just because Ajayi visited the Colts and left without a deal, doesn’t mean that they are ruled out. My best guess right now is that Ajayi is unrealistic about his needs. Just like every player in the NFL, Ajayi probably wants a healthy, long-term deal because he is a talented running back when healthy. The keyword here being ‘when healthy.’

Ajayi’s knees were already bad coming into the NFL. Tearing an ACL on already established bad knees is undoubtedly bad for business. Ajayi’s best bet in 2019 is to take a one-year deal and prove to that team, and/or the Free Agency market that you can still tote the ball after a long recovery. That’s all he’s going to get this season, and the sooner he realizes that the quicker he will get a deal from interested suitors.

Indy is confident in Marlon Mack, but they could use some help. Ajayi has familiarity with the Colts, as their Head Coach, Frank Reich was the Offensive Coordinator with the Eagles back in 2017. They have already shown some interest, so don’t be surprised if Ajayi is on the Colts at some point very shortly.
