Freddy Galvis (0.6 WAR)
Talk about reliable.
For the second consecutive season, Galvis started 162 games and while he wasn’t great, he was steady for the Padres in 2018.
He posted a .248/.299/.380 line while hitting 13 homers and driving in 67 runs.
Galvis made $6.8 million this season and is looking for a multi-year deal, which likely could come from the Padres. Theoretically, San Diego could also throw a qualifying offer at Galvis, which would surely keep other teams away from him.
Again, the dollar figure and the commitment will keep the Pirates away from Galvis.
Galvis is a Gold Glove caliber shortstop, but one that is also out of the Pirates price range.
