Step 4: Win the coaching battle
I have very little confidence that the Timberwolves can execute this last point. Tom Thibodeau has made some…. questionable coaching decisions this season.
[lawrence-auto-related count=3 category=228677281]He has run his starters into the ground to the point where guys like Jeff Teague and Taj Gibson were going to the media pleading Thibs to give the reserves more minutes. He rarely will stray from his regular rotations, even when a role player is hot. He refuses to believe in floor spacing and keeps Nemanja Bjelica on the bench. And he has been awful out of timeouts, drawing up plays like the ones against the Nuggets where they had two chances to win before OT, and got two horrible shots instead.
Last 2 plays coming out of timeouts for the #Timberwolves have looked very bad! I thought Thibs problem was riding guys too hard, not inability to draw up a play #Nuggets

Thibs will need to adjust and tweak his coaching style a bit for the Timberwolves to have any shot.
The statistics of an eight seed beating a one seed aren’t favorable, but that’s not say it hasn’t happened. Win or lose, it would be nice to see the Timberwolves play some inspired basketball when it matters most.
