It looks like a former Eagle could be returning to the nest. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Philadelphia Eagles are likely to pursue to Washington Professional Football Team wide receiver DeSean Jackson in free agency.
This does not come as a surprise as the Eagles’ problems in the wide receiver unit have been well documented this season.
Schefter also reported that multiple teams believe that a reunion could happen and that Jackson and new Eagles head coach Doug Pederson are big admirers of each other.
Jackson, who just turned 30-years old, a few days ago has not slowed down one bit. This season, the speedy wideout is still getting the job as he has 38 receptions (70 targets) for 585 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Over his six-year career with the Eagles, Jackson amassed 356 receptions for 6,117 receiving yards and 32 touchdowns. Not to mention, he also had four punt returns for touchdowns.
It is highly possible for a reunion to happen between Jackson and the Eagles as Chip Kelly is not here anymore and Washington as Schefter reported are unlikely to use the franchise tag on Jackson because they still have to get deals done with quarterback Kirk Cousins and wide receiver Pierre Garcon.
Also, this may be the best option for the Eagles in terms of free agency because there will be a lot of suitors for Chicago Bears wide receiver Alshon Jeffery and Cleveland will probably not let Terrelle Pryor walk out the door without a long-term deal. With those pending factors, it looks like a perfect match for Jackson to return to Philadelphia.
