Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski is Tom Brady’s favorite target, and a matchup nightmare for opposing defenses.
Unfortunately, he won’t be in action on Sunday for the team’s Week 11 game against the 49ers, as they look to revenge their crushing home loss to the Seahawks.
Gronk suffered a perforated lung (initially reported as a punctured lung) last week after taking a brutal hit from Earl Thomas, and it was doubtful that he was going to play on Sunday. He didn’t even travel with the team, as it’s imperative that he heals and is good to go in the future, as the team looks to make a playoff run.
#Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (perforated lung) is not on the plane as the team is set to fly to SF, source said. He’s out vs. the #49ers.

He is expected to return to action for the team’s Week 12 game against the Jets.
