The Buffalo Bills could be the first team to lose to the Cleveland Browns.
Star wide receiver Sammy Watkins, of course, seems to understand what such a loss might do to himself and others on the team.
Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio captured his thoughts on the matter:
“We know if we lose, something crazy might happen immediately. We need to go out there and win this game,” Watkins said, via ESPN.com. “I want to move forward. I don’t want to keep going through all this craziness, changing OCs. That kills the players, the team and the organization. . . . I feel the coaches we have, they can do it. It’s all on the talent. We as a team, as a culture need to [do] whatever it takes to win.”
Indeed. The Bills, 6-7, don’t look like a team ready to make a playoff push. Losing 27-20 last week to the Pittsburgh Steelers while allowing three rushing scores has many thinking the team has thrown the towel in on the season.
If so, the Browns have just enough talent to pull off an upset. Watkins, at least, will play a huge role in preventing this after he returned to form last week and caught four passes for 54 yards and a score while playing the majority of his team’s snaps.
In fact, it might come down to Watkins besting the Cleveland defense in the cold for the Bills to avoid making history. If he can’t, indeed, something crazy might happen.
